Word Handler is a writing and editing service, based in Southern California’s  San Gabriel Valley. Formerly doing business as MDG Writing Services, we have changed our name in order to reach out to non-business clients, while continuing to serve our business-based clientele. There is so much to write out there; formality is only one of the modes in which we operate.

Word Handler is the professional brain child of Mark Guenette. After a bilingual (French-English) primary and secondary education, he attended Princeton and Columbia Universities, earning a B.A. in Comparative Literature at the former, and a Ph.D. in the same field as the latter. His interests include cooking, opera and classical music, ice hockey and that remarkable phenomenon known as Disney. A confirmed anglophile, he knows for whom to write “colour” and for whom to write “color”, and, French-educated, he can write a five-paragraph essay like nobody’s business.

Languages other than English and French include Spanish, Italian (those two preferably not in the same conversation) and German, and he can at least read the Cyrillic alphabet. He started to write his first novel (in pencil in a page-numbered leger book) when he was seven, and has a supply of them in his metaphoric bottom drawer. The novel-writing experience taught him that writing fiction is a hobby, not a vocation, and led him to come up with the idea of a service which would string words together for people who don’t, can’t, won’t – or simply don’t want to — write.

And, thus, Word Handler.
